Monfragüe Natural Park, Red Route Itinerary
Classic route of the red route that starts in Villarreal de San Carlos and crosses the Cardenal Bridge. The bridge is only visible and passable when the river has little flow, and once we cross it, we head towards the Frenchman's fountain, passing in front of the roadmen's house.

Description:
Classic route of the red route that starts in Villarreal de San Carlos and crosses the Cardenal Bridge. The bridge is only visible and passable when the river has little flow, and once we cross it we head towards the Frenchman’s fountain, passing in front of the house of the roadmen. In case the bridge is not passable, because it is covered by the waters of the Tagus, we can do the route crossing the river by the road bridge, which will also take us to the source of the French. Next to the fountain begins the hardest part of the route, an uphill trail that takes us to the castle and the hermitage of Monfragüe. Then we descend until we reach the viewpoint of the salto del Gitano, and from there along a path between the road and the river until we reach the Frenchman’s fountain again. From there to Villarreal, we go back the same way we came initially.
The route can be started and finished at the source of French, where we can leave the car in its ample parking next to the picnic area, so the route would be just 6 kilometers.
