The Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve has one of the largest and most representative concentrations of cave paintings in the Peninsula. Not all of them can be visited, but to learn more about the past of these territories, it is best to visit the Interpretation Center of Rock Art of Monfragüe. Torrejón el Rubio.
The center is made up of four huts, each with a different theme. In the first hut you can learn about the cave paintings of Monfragüe or the painting technique, in the second, you can learn about Neolithic dwellings. The third hut will bring you closer to the Bronze Age, where you will learn about the stelae stones and the last one will explain how cave paintings are made.
Visiting this center is the ideal complement to a visit to the Cueva del Castillo in order to better understand the life of the human beings who carved their art and beliefs on the walls of this shelter. One of the jewels of European rock art.”
